There is also an equestrian centre based on the site. The lake is laid out as a horseshoe and is planted with a variety of different coloured water lillies. Around the edge are planted silver birch to provide cover and there are many different wild flowers including iris. You can also see all manner of birds and insects including some rare species of dragonfly. The lake is fed from the Moors River which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest by English Nature.
